Custom Processing - Whole and Half Hogs
If you have a serious appetite for pork, and freezer space to spare, consider purchasing a whole or half pig to satisfy your cravings. Pigs will be delivered to E & J Farm, where you would pick up the butchered hog.
We generally take our pigs to slaugher at about 250 pounds (live weight). Now, every pig is different but keep in mind that typically the hanging weight is approximately 70% of the live weight. Hanging weight is what the pig "dresses out" at after slaughter (entrails removed, but head on). The final butchered weight (total of all butchered cuts) is approximately 50% of the live weight. Check out this brochure to find out more information on the weight breakdown.
With this arrangement, the customer pays Proctor-Hall Farm $3.50 per pound based on the hanging weight, and the butchering costs directly to E & J Farm. If it is more convenient for you, we can bring the hog to another facility. Please note that while we strive to keep our costs stable, all pricing is subject to change. USDA Processing - Individual Cuts/Whole Hogs
For those wanting to dip their toes into the waters of locally raised meat, dealing with the restrictions of urban apartment freezers, or want to feature a new item on your restaurant's menu, Proctor-Hall Farm can provide USDA-inspected individually wrapped cuts of pork or whole hogs. Whether you are jonesing for country ribs in the slow cooker, a loin roast to impress your dinner guest, or want to break down primal cuts, we have you covered.
Individually wrapped cuts are vacuum-sealed and frozen at the USDA-inspected processing facility after slaughter. Whole hogs can either be picked up or delivered fresh.
